The mother of the lightning strike victim who survived after being hit near the White House last Thursday said she believes her daughter’s Doc Martens may have saved her life.

In a Facebook update, Julie Escudero noted doctors saying the lightning that struck her daughter “went through her toes and out her left arm.”
The thick rubber “Airway” boots of her daughter’s Doc Martens likely helped deaden the bolt, she told Ventura County Star.
Amid 90-some degree heat, Amber Escudero-Kontostathis, had spent hours canvassing tourists in front of the White House for donations to help refugees in Ukraine, her family said.
